Who we are

The Missão Avivando Famílias is a diocesan mission born to offer spiritual and pastoral support to the parishes of the diocese. Obedient first of all to our bishop, we place our charism at the service of the communities, helping priests in the evangelization of families and the formation of the faithful.

How it began

After the plague (Covid), the wounded would come. And to them we present the face of the One who understands wounds better than anyone in the world.

“By his wounds we were healed” (Isaiah 53:5)

How we work

When a parish priest needs an encounter for the families of his community, we write the encounter, submit it for approval and, once approved, carry out what was agreed. In this way we walk with the Church: serving, not overstepping.

Homes that pray

Family:

Encounters and prayers so that every home may be a domestic church, where faith is lived at the table, in prayer and in forgiveness.

Families and vocations

Couples and Youth:

Encounters for couples, young people and families, strengthening the faith that begins at home.

Healing and Deliverance

Healing and Deliverance:

The mission also serves in the area of healing and deliverance, welcoming hearts that seek peace and the action of God.

Our Devotion

Our devotion: the Holy Face of Tours

Our main devotion is to the Holy Face of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the devotion of Tours. To contemplate the face of Christ is to find again the face of the Father and to let Jesus himself look upon us, heal us and console us. Like Saint Thérèse, we want to spend our lives loving this adorable Face and making it loved, carrying this flame into every home. That is why our mission is also a family that prays before the Holy Face and entrusts to its blessings all the parishes and families we serve.

Our Spiritual Family

We walk supported by a great family that intercedes for us and teaches us to live God’s love in practice.

1: Our Lord: the Holy Face of Jesus — the center and reason of our mission.

2: Mother of the Mission: Our Lady of Mount Carmel — the Mother who leads us to the heart of her Son.

3: Father of the Mission: Saint Joseph — protector of the Holy Family and model of fathers and husbands.

4: Patroness: Saint Rita — patroness of impossible causes and of families.

5: Patron: Saint Jude Thaddeus — friend of those who seek hope in difficult causes.

6: Mystic saints: Saint Padre Pio, Saint Faustina and Saint Thérèse — children of the fire of the Spirit, models of prayer and of love for the Holy Face.

Founder

The mission was born from the heart of José Amaro Vieira Filho, a lay convert — an industrial electrical engineer with a law degree and a postgraduate degree in Civil Procedure, married, father of six and grandfather of three. Moved by a personal encounter with the Holy Face, he consecrated his family and his life to the service of the Church. It was also through his influence that the mission embraces, with zeal and prudence, the area of healing and deliverance — always in communion with the diocesan bishop and with the pastors of each parish.
